Wanderwalk Terms of Use
Effective 1 June 2026
Wanderwalk is a walking audio-tour app for London. You walk, your phone notices where you are, and when you come within range of a place with a story, a short narrated story plays in your ear, hands in your pockets, phone in your bag. These Terms set out the deal between you and Wanderwalk when you use the app or this website. They are written to be read, not endured. Please have a look before you start walking. Wanderwalk is launching soon and is not yet available to download. By using the app once it is released, or by using this site, you agree to what follows.
1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing, or using Wanderwalk, or by using wanderwalk.app, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app or the site.
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Wanderwalk ("we", "us", "our"). They sit alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we handle and why. Reading both is worth two minutes.
Wanderwalk is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you are using the app somewhere with a higher age of digital consent, you must meet that age.
2. Your licence to use Wanderwalk
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use Wanderwalk on Apple devices you own or control, for your own enjoyment, listening to London's stories as you walk.
This licence is bounded by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (EULA), which applies to apps distributed through the App Store. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA differ, Apple's standard EULA governs your licence to the app itself.
You agree not to:
- copy, sell, sub-licence, rent, or redistribute the app or its content
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the audio, scripts, or source code, except where the law expressly permits it
- strip out, scrape, or republish our narration, transcripts, or routes as your own
- use the app to break the law or anyone's rights
Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
3. What's free, and Wanderwalk+
Two curated walks are free forever, no account required to walk them once you've installed the app:
- Covent Garden to Holborn
- The City: Money, Murder and the Riverside
Wanderwalk+ unlocks everything else, every story across London, all curated walks, and free roam in full.
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Monthly | £4.99 / month |
| Annual | £29.99 / year (best value) |
There is no weekly limit, no per-story charge, and no day pass. Prices are in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT where it applies. We may change prices from time to time; if we do, the new price applies from your next renewal and we'll make it clear before you're charged.
4. Subscriptions, billing and cancelling
Wanderwalk+ is sold as an auto-renewing subscription billed through your Apple ID via the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, but the payment itself is handled by Apple.
- Auto-renew: Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price, unless you cancel.
- When you're charged: Apple charges your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase and again at each renewal, within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Managing or cancelling: You manage and cancel your subscription in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions (App Store settings). To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- After cancelling: You keep Wanderwalk+ access until the end of the period you've already paid for. We don't refund the unused part of a period.
- Refunds: Purchases through the App Store are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. Refund requests go to Apple, not to us. Your statutory rights under UK and EU consumer law are not affected.
If you don't subscribe, the two free walks remain yours to enjoy.
5. Using Wanderwalk safely, eyes up
Wanderwalk is an audio guide, not a navigation system. It tells you what happened where you're standing. It does not, and is not meant to, route you through traffic, watch the road for you, or replace your own judgement.
So, the important bit:
- Stay aware of your surroundings. Roads, traffic, cyclists, kerbs, steps, the river. Look up from the story.
- Don't rely on the app for directions or for getting anywhere safely. Use it for the stories, use your eyes and a real map for getting around.
- Stop somewhere safe to read. Transcripts, the map, and Look Around are best used standing still, not mid-crossing.
- Respect the places you visit. Many stops are private homes, working churches, businesses, or memorials. Stay on public ground, keep your voice down where it matters, and don't trespass or disturb anyone.
- Obey signs, staff, and the law wherever you walk.
You use Wanderwalk while out and about entirely at your own risk. You are responsible for your own safety and for anyone walking with you.
6. Our content and who owns it
The narration, scripts, transcripts, curated routes, artwork, audio, software, and the Wanderwalk name and brand are owned by us or our licensors, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights.
Our stories are written from real, published historical sources and are checked against them. They are short, spoken history, not academic papers, and the odd detail is genuinely contested, where history doesn't settle a question, the narration says so rather than inventing an answer. You're hearing London as a knowledgeable friend would tell it, sourced and direct, not a heritage plaque read aloud.
The London Stone, for example: behind glass in a wall at one hundred and eleven Cannon Street sits a small, battered block of limestone, and nobody can tell you for certain what it was for. We tell you what's known, name what's only legend, and leave the rest honest. That's the standard across every stop.
You may enjoy the content for personal, non-commercial use within the app. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or build a competing product from it. The licence in section 2 does not transfer any ownership to you.
7. Disclaimers
Wanderwalk is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to make it accurate, reliable, and pleasant to use, but we make no guarantees that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available everywhere.
In particular:
- Location and triggering depend on GPS and your device. In built-up areas, indoors, or with poor signal, stories may trigger late, early, or not at all.
- Audio needs a connection on first play. Once a story is cached to your device it keeps playing through patchy signal, but the first download needs network. Map tiles and Look Around also need a connection.
- Historical content is for interest, not authority. It is carefully sourced but is not professional, legal, or safety advice.
- We don't control external services such as Apple, your mobile network, or the streets themselves.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- any loss, injury, accident, or damage that happens because you weren't paying attention to your surroundings while using the app, see section 5
- indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or loss of enjoyment
- problems caused by your device, your network, GPS conditions, or services we don't control
If we are found liable to you despite the above, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for Wanderwalk+ in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £50.
None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK or EU law, and none of it limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud).
9. Changes to the app and these terms
Wanderwalk grows over time, we add new stories and walks, start with London and expand to more cities later, and improve the app as we go. We may change, add, or remove features, content, or routes.
We may also update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, legal requirements, or pricing changes. When we make a material change, we'll update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or on the site. If you keep using Wanderwalk after a change takes effect, you're accepting the updated Terms. If you don't agree, you can stop using the app and cancel any subscription as described in section 4.
10. Governing law and how to reach us
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of your home country.
Questions, feedback, or a story you think we've got wrong? We'd genuinely like to hear it.
